Rapid Response: ORWA Helps Restore Water Service in Hominy

The Oklahoma Rural Water Association (ORWA) was recently called to assist the City of Hominy, Oklahoma, in locating a major leak on their main raw water supply line. Following heavy rains and flooding, ORWA’s Leak Detection Coordinator Keith Garramone, Sustainability Specialist John Morris, and EPA Specialist Sawyer Seago have been on-site since Wednesday evening providing emergency support.

Using drone technology, the team successfully pinpointed the leak. A temporary repair plan was quickly developed and implemented to restore essential water service while long-term solutions are evaluated. ORWA continues to provide on-site technical assistance to ensure a safe and compliant restart of the water plant.

As of this morning, Hominy is producing water again and slowly bringing the system back online. Barring any issues within the distribution system and the necessary flushing to ensure safety, full restoration of water service to the entire community is expected soon.

ORWA extends sincere thanks to the leadership and employees of the City of Hominy for their tireless work and dedication to serving their community during this critical time. Their swift action has been instrumental in protecting public health and restoring vital services.

“ORWA is extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our employees provide to our rural communities on an ongoing daily basis,” said ORWA CEO Jimmy Seago. “Their expertise and commitment truly make a difference in times of need.”
