Utility Operator
Town of Seiling – Seiling, Oklahoma
The Town of Seiling is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to fill the position of Utility Operator. This position is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s water, wastewater, and other public utility systems.
Position Summary
The Utility Operator performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to municipal utilities, including water distribution, wastewater collection, and general public works activities. This position works under the supervision of the Public Works Supervisor and/or Town Administrator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and maintain water and wastewater systems

Read water meters and perform service connections/disconnections

Repair water leaks, water lines, and sewer lines

Maintain and repair equipment, tools, and vehicles

Assist with street repairs and other public works projects as needed

Respond to emergency calls, including nights and weekends (as required)

Maintain accurate records and reports
Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required

Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required

Ability to obtain required Oklahoma DEQ water and/or wastewater certifications within a specified timeframe

Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to operate hand and power tools

Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous experience in municipal utilities or public works

Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems

Heavy equipment operation experience
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
