JOB SUMMARY
Performs maintenance of water & sewer systems and other semi‐technical and non‐technical duties in a safe,
effective, and efficient manner. Duties include operating equipment, machines, tools and work aids: backhoe, frontend
loader, trenchers, skid steer loaders, jack hammer, air compressor, pumps, dump trucks and other vehicles and
equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Oklahoma DEQ Water Works Operator “D” and Wastewater Works Operator “D” licenses within 6 months of hire.
Valid drivers license with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days of hire.
Essential Job Function:
• Perform maintenance and repairs to water and sewer lines.
• Assists in the installation and repair of water meters, valves, clean outs, storm sewers, water lines, sewer
lines, storm drains, catch basins, and the cleaning of sewer lines, storm sewers, catch basins and
drainage ditches.
• Perform maintenance of sludge beds including disposal of sludge.
• Operates various small equipment and large vehicles.
• Maintains vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Maintain maintenance logs.
• Performs routine maintenance to equipment on a daily basis.
• Identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
• Notifies supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.
• Follows departmental policies and procedures.
• Reports Town code violations to foreman and/or director.
• Responds to emergencies as needed.
• May be required to work on a twenty‐four (24) hour stand‐by on call basis.
• Performs duties required for excavating, back‐filling and leveling grave sites.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, and
walking for extended periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying which includes the ability to lift up
to 100 pounds; pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling; use of fingers, hands, and legs required; must be
able to distinguish colors; must be able to operate assigned tools, vehicles and equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to extreme weather conditions; exposure to vibrations, and noise, work
on slippery or uneven surfaces; work with and around heavy machinery, in or near vehicle traffic, exposure to dust
and fumes from motorized equipment; possible exposure to toxic chemicals.
