A Water Operator works closely with the Bernice Public Works Authority Water Clerk and Board of Trustees and performs a variety of tasks.
Essential Job Functions:
- Read all water meters one (1) time per month
- Complete work orders daily, including but not limited to detecting water leaks with leak detection equipment; repairing water leaks; and replacing water meters and water meter components such as meter loops and valves
- Perform all required water testing, including twice daily chlorine residual testing
- Complete all reports and other documentation required by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Equality (DEQ), as well as any other state or federal agency as needed
- Complete monthly Water Operator Report and attend monthly BPWA Board of Trustees meetings
- Work closely with the BPWA Water Clerk to document progress and completion of work orders
- Order necessary supplies and maintain inventory of BPWA tools and equipment
- Assist community members with questions or concerns
- Demonstrate proficiency with computer software programs required for monitoring BPWA facilities
Additional Job Requirements:
- Class D Water Operator Certification (or the ability to obtain certification)
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds regularly
- Ability to operate a backhoe
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain
- Ability to use tools with accuracy
- Ability to work in different weather conditions
The Water Operator may be required to perform tasks outside of BPWA business hours as needed, including on short notice during emergencies.
